Taking unemployment benefits abroad (WW-uitkering)

You can take the unemployment benefits with you to a country in the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland. Outside these countries, you can only take the unemployment benefits with you if the Netherlands has an agreement with that country.

Going abroad with WW benefit

You can only take your WW benefit abroad with you when you start looking for work in the EU, EEA or Switzerland. This is possible for a maximum of 3 months.

What are the conditions?

  • You are completely unemployed.
  • You have received WW benefit for at least 4 weeks and have been available on the Dutch labour market during this period.
  • Your entitlement to WW benefit has not yet expired.
