The allowance can be taken with you to a country in the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland. The allowance can only be taken abroad if the Netherlands has an agreement with that country.
Within the EU, EEA and Switzerland, you can always take your WIA, WAO or WAZ benefits with you. If you go to another country, it depends on whether you live or reside in that country.
You can only take your WIA, WAO or WAZ allowance with you if the Netherlands has an implementing agreement with the country where you intend to live. Are you moving to a country with which the Netherlands has no signed agreements? In this case, your benefit will be stopped.
Do you spend time abroad and live in the Netherlands? If so, the insured person will continue to receive the benefit and Dutch law will apply. If you are residing abroad, the UWV will agree with you on issues such as medical examinations and reintegration.
