Opening a bank account at ING

If you want to open a bank account, and you are not a Dutch citizen, you have to meet certain requirements. Below are the different scenarios:

Opening an bank account for non-residents (1 person):

  • The original employer’s statement (werkgeversverklaring), i.e. it cannot be a copy or a printed scan. (If you have membership, you can find the employer’s statement in the appendix.)
  • A valid identity document.
  • Original paper with BSN number.

Opening a Resident Account (1 person)

  • Valid identity document.
  • Paper from the Basic Personal Register (BRP) showing the BSN number. Must not be more than 1 year old.

Open a shared bank account:

To open an account, you must first have your own account number with ING. Only then can one of the two accounts be converted into a joint account.
